On this page you will find many creative project ideas  that will help with developing creativity.
I have been writing and keeping ideas to help you with creative play and the importamce of creativity

. Here are a bunch of ideas for you budding artists or artists who are experiencing creative blocks.
Hope you have fun and enjoy them:-)

    "Altered Art"
Take something you detest and make it into a wonderful piece of Art.

Ideas: an old handbag, shoes, clothing, furniture, lamp vase etc etc etc

To alter it: use paint, glue, stamping, decopage, glitter, vintage photos, newspeper, printed or plain tissue paper, paperclay, photocopies,  doll faces, collage, fabric scraps etc etc

Example:  My hubby bought me an old door ( handle and all) with a full length mirror in it, at a garage sale for $2!!
I painted it purple, I printed out fantastic pieces of art that I love and glued them randomly on the door, I stamped and goldleafed it, I added big bold black letters to make words and sayings that inspire me, I even added three dimensional pieces  like 1/2 marbles, flat doll faces that I had already made etc etc.
    It looks wonderful.

    " CREATIVE BLOCK"
The best way I have found to deal with being creatively blocked is to "give up trying". By trying to push yourself to be creative, I feel you just get less creative and more frustrated.

Take some time off! Read some books ( not arty books)  and take all the pressure off yourself. Go out, go to art galleries, fabulous shops, museums, have fun with friends, so something really different. Buy a few NEW types of magazines, maybe digital photography magazines.stretch yourself, learn something new.....something non arty. Keep doing different things, until you REALLY FEEL THE NEED to create again. Now you will creative again. This may take a week or even a month.dont push....................................just go with the flow and all will be well again. This is part of the creative process.:-) Dont stress!

" Whatever you do, Don't Use it"
    Yep you heard right LOL
I bet you all have "favorite Stash Items" that you will not ever use! You keep them hidden away and  just will not use them........because if you use them, then they will be gone! LOL Am I right???? Come on Own up!!!!

Your Challenge today is to bring out at least 3 of your most treasured items and use all of them in your ART WORK!

Its a bit like never using your "Best Crystal Glasses"..............the thought is we need to save those for best! I think this came from our mothers, they had been through the depression when they didnt have a lot of nice things so these were only for special occasions. I know I had a couple of "Best Dresses". I think those days are gone. We know now that life is short and we need to live it to the hilt every single day. I drink sodas in beautiful wine glasses every day. I believe in living each day in the best way we know.

Please! I challenge you to let go of these "best" things, use them now....................................have fun today. Live in the now and use those special stash items..........after all that makes space for new items to come into your life and you get to buy more LOL!!!!

    "Tiny Treasures"
    Yep..............go tiny!
A great way to make sure you practise being creative every day............I know a lot of us INTEND to do some Art each day, but life gets in the way. For Creative beings like us, the day will be MUCH happier if we get our "fix" of creativity each and every day:-) So heres what to do.
1: Mark up a grid out of cardboard..........................Each square needs to be 1 1/2 inches X 1 1/2 inches. I like to draw up a month of grids onto each cardboard piece.
2: Now! Every day make a tiny piece of Art then attach it to one of the squares. Please date each piece as you do it.

This idea works perfectly for drawing, painting, collage, working with fabric, polyclay, free machining, quilting, poetry writing, visual journaling etc etc
I love this idea as you truly commit to being an ARTIST every day without too much pressure. In a year you will have the most fabulous history of your ART day by day.:-)

    " Cut It Up"
Have you got art work that you hate???
    Cut it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep.I mean it, cut it up! Use these tiny pieces in new work.what a bonus to already have stuff to use:-)
If its fabric it will work in new pieces, it will be great for Atc's, Altered Books or shrines or any altered art.
If it's canvas or on paper you can use small pieces in other Art works.
If its a doll..............take it apart, cut it up, take the legs and arms and head off and use the torso for something different.
A great idea for fabric or paper is to but it into small pieces and swap 6 pieces with some other artists, then remake the piece.

    "Round Robins!"
A great way to help boost your creativiyt is to arrange a "Round Robin" with friends.

One person needs to be the organiser.
The people who are chosen to take part MUST be reliable and understand this is a committment.
Keep the number of people in the RR to around 5 or 6 tops ( for the first one anyway!
Decide if the round robins will be an altered book or a figure or a canvas or a fabric book etc/
Each person does the first work in their own piece of art, then posts or delivers the piece to the next person on the list by a specified time......I have always found a month to be a good time, but you can choose to do it much quicker if you all agree.
That person works on the piece then posts it to the next person etc till the finished piece arrives back at your door.
Get together for a show and tell of all the pieces of art!
Enjoy the journey and most of all "have fun!!!"

    "Unfinished Items aka UFO's!"
Do you have unfinished art or dolls that you cant get motivated to finish???

Find a friend or a stranger who is in the same boat. You can find someone on a Yahoo list for sure, or at your art or doll group.
Swap items with a committment to finish off the others piece within the next month. Then swap back again. Anything goes with this swap and you have to be prepared to suspend judgement. Be open minded and you will be amazed at what happens.

This idea will help you be come more creative and being new ideas to you. Have fun and enjoy!

    "Play Day"
Invite a couple of arty people to your house for a "Play Day".
Everyone needs to bring a "plate" for lunch and be prepared to teach the others a technique.
Have a great day sharing idea and experimenting together
Ask..."what if I did........" what would happen???
Take turns hosting your "Play Days"
This will help you all with you creativity
